Legendary vibraphonist Jack Brokensha of the Australian Jazz Quartet/Quintet and Motown Records

Ron's current high school students are performing in the Detroit Civic Orchestra, the Civic Philharmonic Orchestra, Civic Jazz Orchestra and Jazz Week at Wayne State University.


His university students are performing professionally throughout the area while they earn their degrees.


Many professional brass players solicit his instruction for both personal growth and error correction in their playing.

Almost every student Ron has taught that chooses to pursue music as a career has gone to college on scholarship, with the overwhelming majority of them receiving full tuition scholarships.  Colleges they have attended include the New England Conservatory, U.S.C. Thornton School of Music, University of Michigan, Jackson State, Michigan State and Wayne State Universities to name a few.

Ron's students have released a number of recordings as leaders of their own groups, and several have gone on to teach private lessons at schools including the University of Michigan, Michigan State University, Morehouse College, Oakland University, Claflin University, and the University of Toledo.  Several of his students have won Detroit Music Awards for both classical and jazz including Outstanding Soloists, Outstanding Instrumentalist and Outstanding Recording categories.

Lessons

Ron teaches at the Masters of Music Conservatory in Royal Oak and at Wayne State University in Detroit.  His private students have excelled in every genre of music, performing and recording with Bob Seger, Wynton Marsalis, Yo Yo Ma, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, the Roy Hargrove Big Band, Clark Terry, the Michigan Opera Theatre, and many others.
